Description

In this session, Cal Dietz discusses the Reflexive Performance Reset (RPR) method. Strength development is undoubtedly a staple in every good strength and conditioning program. With that being said, strength developed upon a base of dysfunctional neuromuscular firing patterns can lead to disadvantageous movement, energy leaks and compensation patterns throughout the chain in question. Throughout the lecture, Cal explains how the nervous system may be the most overlooked aspect to develoing elite sport performance and provides practical assessment and correction techniques that can be easily implemented into any athlete's daily training regiment.

Learning Objectives

• Identify what RPR does to the nervous system and why it is important for performance.
• Explain why a muscle may not be able to produce force as quickly as desired.
• List the correct muscular firing pattern for hip extension.
• Explain why maintaining the arches of the foot is important for correcting inefficient movement patterns.
• Understand why a lengthened or shortened psoas can impact breathing and recovery.
• Discuss the concept of neurological cheat patterns and the risks they pose.
