Following an injury, it is essential for a performance team (i.e. the coach, the medical team, and the physical fitness team) to have objectively determined metrics to determine when an athlete can return to high risk activity. Moving beyond return to sport decision making criteria, it also seems essential that we monitor athletes as they make the precarious transition from injury status to full performance. The aim of this presentation is to provide real-world examples of how neuromuscular assessments can be incorporated into the operations of a performance team to assess and monitor athletes after injury. This presentation will focus on practical assessment solutions, scientific research, and global considerations for ensuring athletes make a successful transition back to sport after injury.
* Identify new neuromuscular assessment techniques for evaluating injured athletes.
* Recognize the importance of objectively determined metric for return to sport monitoring.
* Consider how monitoring what matters can improve return to sport outcomes for athletes after injury.
