Throughout this lecture, JIm LaValle reinforces the fact that “people have whole body metabolism”. He starts with an overview of the expansive amount of literature pointing to the unbreakable connection that exists between the gut and the brain. Jim then breaks much of the literature down into easy to follow slides, walking the listener through how a breakdown in the gut can lead to a lower threshold and increcreased recovery time for traumatic brain injury. In the second half of the lecture, Jim shifts gears and discusses the many supplements that can help restore the gut microbiome, reduce cortisol and improve overall athlete recovery.
